Sukkot celebration: an evening full of enjoyment and community!

On October 21, 2024, we celebrated a great Sukkot festival together in the sukkah of the Jewish Community of Dresden at the Old Leipzig Train Station. The Gefilte Fest Dresden eV invited all members, friends and interested parties, and we were absolutely thrilled to welcome almost 40 guests!

An evening full of good humor

The guests brought a huge selection of food, which made for a colorful buffet of traditional Jewish delicacies. The association provided fresh bread and drinks so that we could concentrate fully on the social gathering.

Learning Together

Rabbi Moshe Barnett explained the history and meaning of Sukkot and Lulav to us and was open to all questions. Our member Danielle Kohen was able to share personal stories about the food traditions for this holiday and also give insights into her own family tradition. Beautiful stories.

Music and Dance for the Soul

A real highlight of the evening were the completely unplanned contributions from our friends from the Besht. They really heated up the atmosphere with singing and dancing! Despite the cool temperatures and the wind, it was a really warm evening that was brought to life by the music and the dancing guests.

Making new acquaintances

The Sukkot celebration was also a great opportunity to meet new people and exchange stories. It was just nice to see how the sense of community grew among all the participants. Old acquaintances and just faces complemented each other well, which is the whole point, right?

Enjoy culinary diversity

The food they brought was simply great! From traditional dishes to modern creations – the variety was impressive and it was really fun to discover the different tastes and traditions.
